Workshop: Peer review in feminist, sexuality, and digital media studies

This workshop will bring together scholars whose research has to do with feminism, sexuality studies, and digital media to discuss processes of peer review. We will explore different approaches to selecting conferences and journals for outputs, from conventional research papers to creative works. Then we will talk about experiences of providing and receiving feedback through peer review to uncover practices, which move beyond viewing this endeavor as requisite labour or a competitive feat, and look to instead foster the development of our scholarly communities, disciplines, ourselves, and the academy more broadly.

The workshop will commence as a roundtable of scholars across these fields, opening up to a broader dialogue. This event is co-hosted by the Feminist Media Studio, the Simone de Beauvoir Institute, and the Digital Intimacy, Gender and Sexuality (DIGS) Lab at Concordia. It will be tailored for doctoral students and early career researchers but all are welcome.
